Tooth loss doesn’t have to be forever. Find out how dental implants can help.
Even though we understand how tooth loss can be discouraging, before you give up the search and accept living with gaps in your smile find out how getting dental implants from our Nashua dentists Dr. Salvatore Guerriero and Dr. Salvatore Colletta could finally give you back your beautiful smile.
Dental implants are the best option if you are looking for a long-term solution to replacing one or more missing teeth. Implants are highly successful, are designed to last many decades and are as close as you can get to a natural tooth.
How Dental Implants Work
So, what makes dental implants different from other tooth replacement options? Well, the answer lies in this pretty cool phenomenon known as osseointegration. When our Nashua dental implant expert places the small metal implant into the jawbone, over the course of a couple months the bone and tissue that surround the implant will heal and fuse together with the biocompatible implant. After a few months the implant will become a fixed part of your jawbone.
Placing the Dental Restoration
Now that the implant is a permanent part of your smile the next step is to give you the restoration that will actually be visible when you smile. But first, an attachment is placed over top of the implant to connect it to the restoration. This attachment is called an abutment and it looks similar to a prepped tooth that is about to receive a dental crown.
If you are only getting a single implant then a dental crown will be custom-made to fit over your implant to restore your smile. As with all dental crowns, the porcelain used will be matched to your smile beforehand to give you a seamless look so no one will be able to tell that you are sporting a dental implant.
Dental implants are an amazing way to restore your smile and we know you’ll be happy with the results. To find out if dental implants are right for you consult with Nashua Smile Makers to learn more.
